What's a HeyTell Public Relay?

It's a voice chat "party line". You can listen in, send messages, view group members on the map, and invite friends to join!

You'll need to download the latest version of the HeyTell application (for iOS or Android) to join the relay.

A relay will display a group icon icon next to its name. When you send a message to the group, it'll be heard by anyone who's listening.

You will receive relay messages even in the background, but they will not play unless you have the app open and the relay selected. To play new messages, tap on the relay.

New messages from a relay will be skipped if you have more than a few unheard messages. Listen to or delete new relay messages to free up room for more messages.

Your Privacy Setting affects who you hear and who hears you.
- Low: Talk to anyone on the relay, especially people who are located nearby.
- Medium: Talk only to your friends or your friends' friends.
- High: Talk only to your friends.

You can stop receiving messages by tapping the Friend button and selecting Block This Group. You can continue receiving again by selecting Add To Friends.

To listen to individual messages, tap the Friend or Block User icon to expand the message list (on Android, hold down for 1 second). To chat privately, long-press the user's name (hold down for 1 second). You can also Friend or Block individual users by tapping the Check mark button.
